Background Checks Required

All APS volunteers must complete a background check, and we must have a copy of the background check approval email before you can provide help with band activities. The background check is valid for two years, so if you completed a check last year, you do not have to completed another one until next year. You can learn more about the background check at https://www.aps.edu/community/volunteer-with-aps, which includes a link to the background check application. Once you have received your approved background check, please forward the approval email to mhsroyalguard@gmail.com so that we have a copy on file. If you completed one last year and would like to volunteer again this year, please also forward a copy of your approval email so that we have a copy on file.

Opportunities

We need volunteers to help with the following activities:

  • Pit Crew – October Marching Season and Football Games

  • Prop Crew – October Marching Season and Football Games

  • Loading Truck for Away games and marching competitions

  • Chaperone (Marching Season, Football Games, Concert Season, Basketball Season)

  • BBQ/Serving Food at Competitions

  • Zia Button and Sash Committee

  • Winter Guard Competition

  • Banquet Committee

  • Fund Raising Committee

  • Booster Booth at Football Games (see swag during football games)

  • Snack Donations

  • Valencia Competition (Pit crew, props, chaperone, feed students)

  • Pageant of the Bands (Take a station to work for 2 hours – brings in money for our band)

  • Music Assessment Competition (Milne) – (Pit crew, props, chaperone)

  • Zia Competition (pit crew, props, chaperone, feed students)
